Diego Quejido

Madrid, 1983

The decision to paint has its origin in his first years of life with the same conviction and energy as today, starting to paint in an autodidactic way.

His first works date back to 1988. From this year to 1993 he paints a series of canvases that would have the occasion to be gathered in an individual exposition in the Almazen de la Nave in Madrid in 1994, when he was only eleven.

During these years he also participates in collective collections with the group of artists that formed this association in the Almazen de la Nave and the Círculo de Bellas Artes “Eterno retorno” Madrid 1994.

From 1994 ahead he begins a strong relationship with the world of Graffiti, extending it to nowadays. He works on the streets of Madrid making mural commissions, decorations in shops, bars, as well as interventions in television studio sets or exhibitions for brands such as “JB”.

During these last seven years, contacts with other disciplines such as sculpture arise, leading him to work as an assistant with the sculptor Evaristo Bellotti in 2001. Disciplines such as Photography also begin to take an important roll in his latest paintings.

Finally  he graduates in Art History at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in 2008.

His work revolves around figurative interests of the legacy of avant-garde, and painting of the last twenty-five years, as well as around the different cultural and post modern fields which become the main influence of his work.
